The Ohio State-Rutgers Game Today

College football season has returned, and it’s time to make predictions confidently. Ohio State travels to Indiana this week for their season opener against Hoosiers.

Ohio State will attempt to recover from their road loss to Northwestern. To do so successfully, it will need to do so without two of its top running backs, TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams.

Rutgers

Ohio State comes into this game as heavy favorites and will likely start as heavy favorites, but Rutgers won’t go down quickly. Their defense has allowed an average of 241 yards per game — seventh overall — while Ohio State leads in scoring and touchdowns per game, potentially leaving Rutgers’s defense exposed against Ohio State’s explosive offense. If Ohio State can continue their dominance, it could make for a long day for Rutgers’ defensive unit.

The University is a preeminent national research institution dedicated to excellence in teaching and research, providing innovative solutions for local, national, and global challenges through its numerous schools and programs offering undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees;

Rutgers University features Federal-style buildings along the Raritan River with tree-lined pathways and world-class art museums. Students and faculty frequently stroll past cafes and shops before visiting historic Rutgers Gardens – part of Big Ten Conference membership and one of nine original Colonial Colleges chartered before American independence.

Rutgers University is home to an internationally acclaimed community of students and scholars dedicated to pursuing knowledge, leadership development, and service to society. Innovation and creativity flourish here as Rutgers promotes diversity as an institution with international perspectives and intercultural exchanges at its core.

Miyan Williams scored once again on a 70-yard run to tie Pete Johnson and Keith Byars for most rushing touchdowns scored during one game with four.

Steele Chambers has amassed an outstanding performance for Ohio State this season with 11 tackles – eight solo tackles, two sacks, and an interception in just two games – en route to setting an OSU team record of six turnovers forced from its defense in two contests.

The Rutgers player passes out of bounds. Although it appears as though this was a penalty call, officials will review this incident to ascertain its correctness.

Penn State

Penn State struggled against Ohio State’s strong defense yet still managed to keep pace. Though both teams created points throughout the contest, Penn State will remain competitive for a Big Ten championship regardless of the loss.

Ohio State currently stands second in the nation and has won its opening two games despite starting slowly against Michigan and Penn State, respectively. Their game against Penn State will be broadcast live by NBC for primetime viewing – making history!

Ohio State has enjoyed success against Penn State and should claim victory again. Led by quarterback C.J. Stroud, who has completed 72% of his passes thus far, and TreVeyon Henderson (rushing over 100 yards per game). Ohio State should quickly come away victorious.

Penn State has had issues in their defense this season. They’ve allowed an average of over one touchdown per game while only intercepting one pass during their last four matches – so in this matchup with Ohio State, they’ll look to improve.

Ohio State lacks several key players, such as defensive end Omari Abor and wide receiver Kamryn Babb. Additionally, safety Lloyd McFarquhar, cornerback Cameron Brown, and running back Corban Cleveland aren’t present either; wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba should return for at least 22 snaps this season.

Penn State’s Sean Clifford struggled against Ohio State’s top-ranked defense yet still found some wiggle room and breakthrough on offense. They converted several third downs, with Clifford throwing a 42-yard pass to Harrison Jr. that helped set up their fourth-quarter scoring drive. JT Tuimoloau led his defense with takeaways; he batted away Clifford’s pass before picking off one fumble that gave the Buckeyes some momentum. Tuimoloau finished his day with six tackles, three tackles for losses, two sacks, and one pick fumble recovery!

Minnesota

The University of Minnesota hosts the Golden Gophers football team and competes against Ohio State in an annual athletic contest called The Border Battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe. Since 1985, these two schools have met 104 times; Ohio State leads this series 72-21-5. These two schools meet annually at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana, for The Big Ten Game; in 2023, this meeting will start at 3:30 pm ET and air live on CBS.

Ohio State will play their second road Big Ten game of the season at Camp Randall against Wisconsin and former OSU head coach Luke Fickell, making for a challenging opponent who will add another dimension of difficulty by being played under lights at night. This test of OSU defense’s resilience in an intense environment will prove vitally important for Ohio State’s success this season.

Fans have long since been pining for Ohio State to defeat Michigan and are growing restless. A tough road matchup against them should allow Ryan Day to show that his team can win again.

Ohio State will find their trip to East Lansing no easy task, but they should easily overcome an MSU team still basking in the glow of Mel Tucker’s success in 2016. MSU still has much to prove with their young roster, so that this trip will serve as a litmus test for them.

Ohio State and Purdue Boilermakers have provided some challenges to Ohio State. Still, this game should be an easy win for OSU and will set up an intriguing contest with Michigan next week.
